About Me
Hi, I’m Sven—a passionate traveler and hobby photographer with a deep love for capturing the raw beauty of wildlife, the serenity of nature, and the adrenaline of sports events. My camera (using a Sony Alpha 7RM5 and for snapshots my iPhone) is my way of telling stories, freezing moments in time, and sharing the wonders of the world through my lens.
When I’m not out in the wild or on the sidelines of a thrilling game, I work as a physician in neonatology, based in Zürich, Switzerland, born and raised in Germany. Balancing the precision of medicine with the creativity of photography allows me to see life from unique perspectives—both the delicate and the untamed.
Join me on this visual journey, where every frame is a new adventure!
Neonatology
Neonatology is a unique and deeply rewarding field of medicine that focuses on the care of the tiniest and most vulnerable patients—newborns, especially those who are premature or critically ill. It is special because it combines cutting-edge medical technology with compassionate, hands-on care, often making the difference between life and death.
The importance of neonatology cannot be overstated. Advances in this field have significantly improved survival rates and long-term outcomes for premature and sick newborns. Neonatologists not only provide intensive care but also play a crucial role in family support, guiding parents through some of the most challenging moments of their lives.
Working in neonatology is incredibly fulfilling for physicians. It offers the opportunity to be at the forefront of medical innovation while building deep connections with patients and families. The teamwork in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) is unparalleled, involving collaboration with nurses and other specialists. Every day brings new challenges and triumphs, making neonatology a career that is both intellectually stimulating and emotionally rewarding.

If you are interested in neonatal hemodynamics or TNE I can highly recommend https://neonatalhemodynamics.com/ and especially their Twitter and Youtube Channel where you find excellent talks about all aspects of neonatal hemodynamics and latest news of new studies. For all those who love echocardiography, whether beginner or advanced, I can recommend the page https://www.neocardiolab.com/ where you can teach yourself in all standard views of TNE and hemodynamic assesment with brilliant illustrations and example clips or find advanced topics in pathophysiology of heart defects or circulation conditions.
Neonatal research
In addition to all the well-known pages of the journals NEJM, Lancet, Nature, JAMA Pediatrics, AAP, BMJ, I can recommend https://neonatalresearch.org/ by Keith Barrington, who gives you one (critical) perspective on current (and former) studies in the field of neonatology.

As member of the Swiss Society of Neonatology I recommend our own web page https://www.neonet.ch/ and additionally I want to highlight the Swiss foundation for Neonatology https://neonat.ch/ for the support of research and training in neonatology in Switzerland
